Undergraduate Internships
Undergraduate students studying at the ÃØÃÜÑо¿Ëù Stokes School of Marine and Environmental Sciences are guided by a world-renown faculty with expertise ranging from fisheries sciences to marine ecology and ocean physics. Outside of classroom experiences, students have access to a variety of internship opportunities where they can gain hands-on experience prior to graduation.
Mobile Baykeeper
Mobile Baykeeper has AmeriCorps programs and internships that are great opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students in a non-profit setting.
Grand Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve
Grand Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve has a number of internships this summer. The due date to apply is March 29 by 10am.
Sea Turtle/Biological Technician
Summer interns (3-4) are hired to work and live on Blackbeard Island National Wildlife Refuge (Refuge is only accessible by boat - boat transportation provided). Majority of responsibilities involve monitoring threatened loggerhead sea turtle nests. Duties include: locating sea turtle nests, installing predator controls, inventorying nests, collecting, recording, and inputting data into seaturtle.org. Interns may participate in education/outreach, invasive species monitoring, shorebird surveys, control for feral hogs and invasive plants, and trail maintenance.

Dog River Clearwater Revival (DRCR) Seeks Intern for JAN-APRIL 2023 assisting with 8th Annual MudBottom Revival Music Festival Fundraiser
DRCR is seeking 2 unpaid interns to assist with organizing our 8th annual MudBottom Revival Music Festival. This is our biggest fundraiser event of the year. All proceeds raised have a direct impact on water quality and fund our ongoing Dog River improvement projects.
Specifically, we need someone to help with Fundraising (sponsor solicitation) and Art/Merch (event signage, t-shirts, and merchandise). You would be working under and assisting our seasoned Committee members. Your time commitment would be minimal, likely around 5 hours per week at the most, 40 hours max total between the months of January-April.
You would also be invited to attend the event free of charge of course! It is always
a fun event!
Interest in communications, music, and Dog River preferred!

2023 UNOLS-MATE At-Sea Technical Internship Program
The U.S. Academic Research Fleet of UNOLS-designated research ships will host 1 long-term (approximately 6 months) and 12-14 short-term (4-16 weeks each) marine technical internships in 2023 (subject to funding). Departure dates will depend on the schedule of each research cruise. We will first select candidates for internships starting in Spring, and then in Summer and Fall.

DFP is a special hiring program the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) uses to diversify their workforce. UCSC Doris Duke Conservation Scholars Program
Each March we select 20 early-undergraduate Scholars from around the country to participate in a two-year conservation mentorship program focused on the summers between academic years. Each summer Scholars receive a $4,600 stipend plus funding to cover travel, room, and board.
DISL REU Program
Funded by the National Science Foundation - Division of Ocean Sciences Research Experiences for Undergraduates Program and the Dauphin Island Sea Lab, the focus of the DISL REU Program is to provide participants with the opportunity to carry out an independent research project while working under the direction of a faculty mentor as part of a productive research laboratory.
Double D Oyster Farm
Double D Oyster Farm is hiring student workers (paid $$). You will be working mostly at the Dauphin Island site but they will work with student’s schedules and are flexible with the days and time people can work. Demand for the off bottom farm raised oysters is really good and new markets are opening up.

Homeland Security Professional Opportunities for Student Workforce to Experience Research 2023
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology Directorate Office of University Programs sponsors the Professional Opportunities for Student Workforce to Experience Research (HS-POWER) Program for undergraduate and graduate students. HS-POWER is open to students majoring in a broad spectrum of homeland security related science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) disciplines as well as DHS mission-relevant research areas.
Ernest F. Hollings Undergraduate Scholarship
The Hollings Scholarship Program provides successful undergraduate applicants with awards that include academic assistance (up to $9,500 per year) for two years of full-time study and a 10-week, full-time paid ($700/week) internship at a NOAA facility during the summer.

SMART Scholarship for Service Program
This is a program for students at all levels to receive a stipend/tuition/etc. and have a guaranteed Federal position at a DoD lab, like ERDC, after graduation.
White Shark Internship
The program is open to anyone with a real interest in sharks and a healthy passion for marine life. No previous diving, research or conservation experience is necessary and training in those fields will be provided. We will teach you how to explore, understand and protect our beautiful oceans.
Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internships (SULI)
The Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internships (SULI) program encourages undergraduate students and recent graduates to pursue science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) careers by providing research experiences at the Department of Energy (DOE) laboratories.
