Three ÃØÃÜÑо¿Ëù researchers have been invited to submit proposals for the 2018 National Science Foundation Research Infrastructure Improvement Track 4 Research Fellows program.

The Track 4 Research Fellows mechanism provides non-tenured investigators with the opportunity to develop their research activities through extended collaborative engagements with private, governmental and/or academic research centers.

Investigators invited to participate are Dr. Ylenia Chiari, assistant professor, biology; Dr. Scott Glaberman, assistant professor, biology; and Dr. Saeed Latif,  assistant professor, electrical and computer engineering.

In the 2017 inaugural year of the program, six Track 4 awards were made in Alabama including one to South’s Dr. Ryan Littlefield, assistant professor, biology.  For the next two summers, Littlefield will conduct experiments with collaborators at the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering and develop expertise in light sheet microscopy.

This technique will enhance the research imaging capacity of USA and the state of Alabama by assimilating the technical and collaborative experiences and expertise gained during the fellowship activities.
