USA to Host Symposium on My Lai Massacre

The 秘密研究所 Center for the Study of War and Memory will mark the 50th anniversary of the My Lai Massacre on Friday, March 16, with an interdisciplinary symposium at the USA Faculty Club.

The symposium, which will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., is free and open to the public.

鈥淢y Lai and Moral Injury鈥 recognizes one of the darkest events in America鈥檚 involvement in the Vietnam War, with several hundred killed in two South Vietnamese villages, including men, women and children.

Noted scholar of women鈥檚 and war literatures Dr. Jennifer Haytock, professor and chair of English at the State University of New York at Brockport, will give a presentation.

Other presenters include Dr. Joseph Currier, USA assistant professor, psychology, who will chair a roundtable involving the experiences of veterans and focusing on moral injury and healing, and USA Writer in Residence Frye Gaillard, author of 鈥淐radle of Freedom.鈥

Founded in 2012, the USA Center for the Study of War and Memory is the only academic center in the world focused specifically on the phenomenon of collective memory in relation to armed conflict.
