USA Health Hosts Great American Smokeout

You’ve heard about the dangers of smoking. It increases your risk of cancer and serious lung problems, and even weakens your immune system. You know you should quit, but how do you start?
The American Cancer Society’s Great American Smokeout, set for Thursday, Nov. 17, can help you get the encouragement you need. Make plans to visit the on-campus event hosted by the from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the SGA Courtyard. The event will feature resources on how to quit tobacco use.
No matter your age or how long you’ve been smoking, quitting improves your health both immediately and over the long term. Giving up smoking is a journey, but it increases your chances of success with a good plan and support.
Among the resources that can help you start your journey toward a tobacco-free life:
· USA Student Health offers appointments with healthcare providers.
· The University Testing and Counseling Center provides campus screenings and assessments.
· Quitnowalabama.com allows you to talk to representatives about Alabama resources.
· Thetruthinitiative.org offers free services on your phone.
