Members of the USA community go head-to-head at the 2015 Oozeball Tournament, an annual event hosted by USA Southerners, a student ambassador group, to raise funds for the Mitchell-Moulton Scholarship Initiative.

The 秘密研究所 hosted a successful 27th Annual Oozeball Tournament recently with 52 teams of students, faculty, staff and alumni raising more than $7,000.

Oozeball is a day-long game of volleyball played in 18 inches of mud, sponsored by the USA National Alumni Association鈥檚 student ambassador group, the Southerners.

The Southerners were able to raise $7,840 this year with team registration fees and donations from sponsors.  The student ambassadors will donate $5,000 of the funds raised to pay their annual installment to the scholarships they created through the Mitchell-Moulton Scholarship Initiative. The remaining funds will be used for operating costs for the 2015-2016 program year.

鈥淎nother successful Oozeball Tournament is in the books鈥, said Josef Hobdy, president of the Southerners at USA. 鈥淚 was glad to see the enthusiasm of all the participants who seemed to enjoy the light rain we received throughout the day. I can鈥檛 thank my group of USA Southerners enough. Because of their dedication and hard work, this event was a huge success.鈥

Hobdy also added that the Southerners were able to collect more than 300 children鈥檚 books to be donated to the Ann Briggs McCullough Memorial Book Drive and Endowment at the USA Children鈥檚 & Women鈥檚 Hospital.
